Hey y'all! Happy Friday! :)
*giving a little update on myself. you can just scroll down to see my card, if you want.*
I know I've been a little quiet on my blog, lately. Truth is, I had nothing but a terrible toothache! Started one day and led to another and so on. After the second day and seeing my face somewhat (well, maybe quite a bit) swollen, I broke down and took some pain medicine. Probably, should have done that in the first place!...Finally, had some relief and swelling went down. a lot. Today, I'm much better.
I know most will and would say, 'you need to go to the dentist'. And normally I would have. Though, I don't have health insurance (for myself). So, you see it's not easy to just walk in or call around and pay up front hundreds of dollars, just to see what going on and then go from there. All I see is $$$ and I'm not sitting on a pile of cash. I'm not one for excuses, but I can't just go to any 'joe schmo' dentist either. I've had my luck with dentist, which isn't always the best. My last visit I spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars to basically have a bunch of teeth pulled. Which in the back of my mind, I question if some of them even needed to be pulled. And the tooth that has been bothering me is one that they said was good. So, you got me. And even when I had insurance I still couldn't afford everything that was needed to be done. Needless to say, I have a lot work to be done. Just waiting for things to fall into place for me. Hopefully at some point, they will. ;)
*please know, this took a lot for me to write. while I try to be 'open' with things, there are some things that are very hard for me. I feel I'll be judged (which really, even if I don't open up, I probably still will be?.) and guess you could say I'm insecure with myself about this, so that alone is a huge step for me to share about it. And I'm not looking for anything in return from sharing this. Just something I guess I felt I should do?...(I don't always have a way of explaining things. sorry.)*
Anyhow, on to my card.
So, I was touring around 'blogland' and was looking at the challenges that are going on. I came across the Altenew February Challenge. Somehow, I completely spaced about their challenge! lol Well, now I'll be on the lookout! ;)
The theme is: Gold and Glitter.
*edit*
I am also going to play along with Inkspirational! Thanks, Darnell for asking me to play along! ;)
So, here's my card.
A wedding card, indeed! I did a little stenciling for my background, which I used a lighter pink for it. Hopefully, you can see it?...I didn't cover the whole card with it, just a 'here and there' thing. After, I stamped my image on some pattern paper, twice. Then, stamped my image over my stenciled background. Once done, I cut my pieces out and adhered one of them to the card (over my stamped image). Next, I used some 'gold glitter sticker hearts' to make a flower, so to speak. After, I added my second cut piece over the flower and to line up with my first cut piece. To finish things off, a few gold rhinestones and my sentiment (which, I actually added after stamping my image on my background). So, what do you think?!...
Thanks for stopping by!
Enjoy your weekend! :)
Oh so sorry about your painful tooth situation...that's NOT fun...and neither is spending money on it!
ReplyDeleteI don't know how young you are, but when you get past I'll say 40ish years things don't seem to matter to you too much on what others think! If someone bothers you, tell them to talk to ME!! :) LOL!! Please no worries about that, but I do hope you are better soon and not suffering!! Poor girl!
Your card is so BEAUTIFUL!! I adore the soft stenciling in the background and that gold glitter really pops out nicely with this!! Fabulous card!! Hope you have a good weekend friend!
Oh Shelly, I'm so sorry about your tooth ache! It must be so painful, something that we take for granted so when it hurts, it's so uncomfortable. I hope you feel better soon♡ I like what *Vicki* wrote and I'm waaayyyy past 40...it's your blog, your write whatcha want :)
ReplyDeleteYour card is g.o.r.g.e.o.u.s. love the smidge of gold.
This card is a beauty, Shelly!
ReplyDeleteYou poor thing! I'm so sorry for your toothache, if the pain continues to bother you, please go see a referred dentist! Dental care is important and no, not judging you at all, but rather more concerned. Hopefully your pain has fully subsided.
Oh my, toothache is no fun at all. I know :( I hope that the inflammation and pain are gone now. I agree with Vicki, let them think! Your card is beautiful, I love that bird and the colours. Have a nice weekend, Luv, Wilma
ReplyDeleteI hope your tooth is feeling better!! I know exactly how you feel in regards to the doctor and money! I only now have insurance thanks to Obama, since i am doing school full time and work retail part time i get insurance for free through the state, its such a relief to know that i don;t have to make hard decisions if an emergency happens! Hopefully your situation will get better soon!!
ReplyDeleteFabulous card!! I love the pattern paper you used and the gold flower is awesome!! Love it!!
I think your card is really gorgeous, Shelly. The stenciling shows just fine. Before I forget, since I believe that is origami, I'd love to have you link your card with the current Inkspiration challenge where I am guesting!
ReplyDeleteI'm very sorry to hear about your toothache and your history with your teeth and dentists. I don't think there is much worse than a toothache. It impacts everything from your mojo to your sleep and back again. Since you can't afford to go (it's expensive even WITH insurance!), I am glad you have pain medication to get through it. I'm sure you've thought of this, but sometimes there are dental schools or even compassionate dentists who will take patients for little or no cost. I wish you all the best and I'm glad you shared!! I hope you have a pain-free weekend! Hugs, Darnell
aww I hope you feel better.. going to the dentist not fun and it is expensive. it is my least favorite place to go.
ReplyDeleteYour card is stunning..
So sorry to hear about your pain! No judgement here I am always putting myself last especially on medical things and I completely understand the expense of it even with insurance so sending you hugs and positive vibes! Beautiful card!!! Love the paper you've used!

ReplyDeleteLove your card....the subtle stenciling on the background and that pop of gold glitter.
ReplyDeleteP/s: I feel your pain about toothaches. I've spent thousands getting my wisdom teeth removed.
Your card is spectacular!!!
ReplyDelete(I really hope there will be a solution for your problem Shelly! I too struggle with sharing personal stuff, but sometimes sharing takes the weight off your shoulders!... thinking of you!)
So sorry to hear about your tooth! I can't imagine! I hope you're able to get it resolved quickly and with not too much cash out the door! I do love this card, love the soft subtle stenciling, the sparkle and that great pattern you chose too.
ReplyDeleteStunning Shelly! Wow.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful and unusual wedding card. I love the pattern on the origami and the light touch of the stencilling. Thank you for joining us at Inkspirational Challenges. Come back next time! Marina
ReplyDeleteShelly, your card is stunning! Your arranged your images and elements beautifully! I'm so sorry to hear about your toothache; hopefully you're feeling much better by now. As for dentists, I agree. I'm terrified of them, for precisely the reasons you mention! Don't ever worry about being 'judged' for expressing how you're feeling or what you're thinking. We all have insecurities and concerns; keeping things inside just causes them to percolate and brew even more. Our community is quite compassionate, which was reaffirmed immensely when my dad passed away on Dec. 30th...such an outpouring of compassion. From the comments here, I think you have a solid group of "friends'...please count me in that group as well!

Hi Shelly!! Tooth pain is one of the worst!!! And I totally can relate to working out all the details with finances and convenience when shopping for a doctor that'll do a good job and won't drag out the process. You sound just like me in testing out your vulnerability and hoping that it doesn't backfire. You're okay, no worries :) It seems you have a lot of support. I hope you're feeling better by now. Now...your card... BEAUTIFUL! Love the details! I keep telling myself to stencil!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on being one of our Top Picks for the Inkspirational challenge with your beautiful card, Shelly! Thank you again for playing!! Hugs, Darnell
